Thousands and thousands of acres are set aside as parks and wildlife preserves in California. Of all the parks in Santa Cruz County, I believe that Henry Cowell may have the greatest diversity of trees, and it seems that every type of terrain is represented–sun-washed meadows, thickets of undergrowth with delicate wildflowers, a river, and tall forest, providing homes for every bird and animal indigenous to the area. Here we see a bit of it in late afternoon light–the golden time of day.
